I checked their yearly pamphlet of Michigan state senators and representatives for fact errors, misspellings and grammar. I also wrote an in-depth article regarding the Kalamazoo River oil spill.
This was a temporary position that turned into more. MIRS appreciated my eye for detail so much a year later they asked me to return as a copy editor.
